New Sliding Head Machine added to Group Asset list
Benefits of Sliding Head CNC Machining
Key features of sliding head technology include the significant reduction in production times compared to other technologies such as fixed head machining. The cutting tools in a sliding head machine are positioned very close to the workpiece which reduces non-cutting idle time, while the sub-spindle allows operations to be overlapped to further reduce cycle time.
The flexibility of sliding head machines typically enables components to be produced in a single setup which removes the need for additional operations and machine operators. These machines are also able to operate unmanned overnight which significantly reduces process times and cost per part.
The sliding head lathe machine can be used for a variety of applications such as turning, milling, drilling, boring, grooving, cross drilling, and screw-cutting. This type of versatility is hard to match, as is the availability of 7 axes with a standard machining diameter of 32mm, a slant-type guideway structure for stable heavy-duty cutting, a Z1 stroke of 310mm, six 16mm turning tools, five cross-working power tools, and four back-working power tools, a movable operation panel with Fanuc 32i-B control, and C-axis control on main and sub-spindles.
